Back to Blogging

So, I have been a horrible blogger! But seriously, do you know the monkeys I write about?? They are two very demanding angels and them playing sweetly together while mommy blogs is not on their agenda for the day! How am I doing it now?? Unfortunately my fibromyalgia hates me right now and I have no other choice but to sit in my recliner on a heating pad :) The last time I blogged was in July, so I have quite a bit of catching up to do. I will just hit the highs and lows of each month.

August- We moved at the end of July to apartments which was a big transition for us all. Harlee took her first ever trip to Alabama with out mom and dad!! She had never been away from either us for over 24hrs, so I was very nervous. We had so much to do with moving, I didn't have time to sit and worry. She did great and had lots of fun with Nana. They were gone 4 nights and then I met Papa half way and got my babies and my mom! Mom got to spend the week, she was suppose to be there to help get the apartment together, but of course I had it done and decorated by the time I picked them up!! The kids didn't do so well with the transition. They really liked the apartment and loved their rooms, but they still wanted to go back home to their old house! It broke my heart that they didn't understand why we had to move. I knew with a little time, they would feel at home in no time :) Harlee, unfortunately developed a potty mouth this month! Don't worry, it's not what you are thinking! She started talking about her "pirate area" (private area) all the time. Yes, it sounds funny, but in the middle of the grocery store, not so much. She likes to wait until it's quite and she screams out " My pirate area"!! She only does it because she thinks it's hilarious and to get a reaction from mommy and daddy! Got to love kids and the things that come out of their mouths!

They loved swimming in the month of August! Abram went from being horrified and hanging onto us from dear life to swimming with his floaties on across the pool by himself! Harlee was never scared and actually attempted a back flip one day after seeing another kid do it! They loved that we got to walk the dogs throughout the day. They are always happy outdoors ;)

September- The month of September the kids were pretty much transitioned to apartment life. They had already made friends with all of the maintenance guys and made a habit of taking a different toy everyday to show one of our neighbors as we walked the dogs. This month the kids really started getting into crafts. They wanted to make something everyday. We eventually ran out of room, so I made something for their rooms to display their work. They loved to show off something new everyday when daddy got home. Papa and Mama Sandra came for a visit at the beginning of September and the kids loved that. They got to see them swim and play at monkey Joe's. The kids enjoy everything that much more when they have an audience! The kids and I went back to Alabama for Amelia's 1st birthday. We went down early and Stephen came later. The kids loved spending time with their cousin. They went to mimi and papa Dan's one day and got to hold a teeny tiny kitten and feed the chickens. Abram attempted to spend the night, but he wasn't feeling to well and wanted his mommy :) They spent the week playing outside and having lots of fun with Amelia, Nana, Papa and Mama Sandra. On the 24th we went to Amelia's party and they loved it. They are so proud of their little cousin! They got to see a lot of family and their other cousins Sawyer and Mack! They love all of their family so much!

October- The month of October is always a busy and fun month! The kids were excited to decorate for Halloween. Abram made ghosts to hang up all by himself. They made pumpkins to hang up and many other things throughout the month. Abram is showing more interest in learning about things he actually needs to know, which is a relief. Unfortunately, we found out he is a lot like me in many ways. He is very hard on himself when he can not get things "right". One night while writing his name, he just could not get his m. He did it over and over again, even after we told him to stop. We kept encouraging him and letting him know how great we thought it was. He had us both almost in tears. He was so upset with himself that he was crying and telling us to stop telling him it was good. I told him he needed a break and that he could try again the next day. He of course got his m perfectly the next day, and he was so proud!
Harlee invented another new word this month. Of course it's a word she finds hilarious and knows will get her in trouble. Here it goes.... boobysocks and boobyguts!! If you are wondering why those words, I'm still wondering too!

We did lots of fun things and had lots of guests in the month of October. We went to a small festival called the Mullet Festival and Abram did a mullet throw. He threw it 27ft. We got pumpkins from the church down the street and decorated them two different times. The paint washed away easily, so they did it twice. Stephen turned 27, so the kids got balloons (their favorite) and made him cards and picked out his cake. Paw Paw and Kathy visited us for the first time ever and the kids were so excited! Aunt Amie, uncle Dustin and cousin Sawyer came to visit for the weekend and they had a lot of fun. We went to Kangarooz and a small fall festival. They loved playing with Sawyer and he had a lot of fun chasing them around! The next weekend Nana, Papa, Aunt Tada, Uncle Dustin, and cousin Amelia came to visit. We went to the park and the beach and trick or treating! Amelia had a lot fun playing with Abram and Harlee, she thought she was just as big as them! The kids had so much fun trick or treating. Abram was Thor, Harlee was bumblebee, and Amelia was a chicken. Harlee almost didn't go. She screamed for an hour, and refused to put on her costume. I finally grabbed her while she kicked and screamed and dressed her. She of course ended up having a great night. We went around the apartments, but there were not too many people handing out candy, so we decided to go to our old neighborhood. The kids got lots and lots of candy and had so much fun! I was so proud of our babies. While other kids were running through peoples yards and grabbing the candy and running, our kids walked on the side walks said trick or treat and thank you. I know sometimes they misbehave and get a little rowdy, but they really are great well behaved kiddos, and that makes me proud! We finally ended the night around 9 and the kids were asleep by 10. They actually slept until 8!! We ended the month of October on a great note!

Catching Up.... Family, friends, 4th of July

Friday July 1 we took a trip back to Bama to spend a few days at the lake with the family. The trip down was ok; however, it wasn't the best trip we have ever had, and really what can you expect with a two year old who has never liked to ride and always has to potty, a four year old who only wants to listen to "Bad to the Bone", "Jungle Love", and "Who let the dogs out" over and over. They don't sleep well on a trip, if they sleep at all. They, like me, feel the need to have a snack and a drink at ALL times while traveling, and they don't understand why that is not going to happen. Lets see, there are also two dogs who smell like dogs, so they make our trips interesting too! The good thing about being stuck in a car for so many hours is getting to carry on long conversations with my babies about random stuff, singing and dancing our hearts out, and when they get too bored they want me to put on puppet shows through the head rest with their toys! (the last is not my personal fave considering I get motion sickness!) I will be honest and say that I have cried once or twice on one of our many trips, but all the others I just laugh it off and try not to go crazy!

The kids were so excited when we got to the lake and they saw Papa and they of course wanted to know where Nana was right away! They wanted to take a golf cart ride right away, so Nana took them on one while mommy and daddy unpacked! They could not fall asleep for nothing Friday night. I guess it was a mix of excitement and being somewhere different! They didn't fall asleep until after 10 and woke up at  5 that morning ready to go!! They played Saturday harder than I think they have ever played! Before 9 they had already had Papa, MamaSandra and us take them on a golf cart ride. Papa Dan and Mimi brought Amelia down and they spent the day. Papa Billy came to spend the weekend and Brittanee, Jonathan, and Jesslyn came down too! They kids rode jet skis and swam in the lake, played in the pool, rode the golf cart and went fishing. They had lots of fun with their cousin Amelia, they love her so much. They have always thought she was the grandest thing ever! Amelia is already braver than both Abram and Harlee, she has no fear in the pool! Abram loved having Jesslyn come and play, he has always loved her so much! Harlee actually gave Jesslyn a kiss when I was taking them on a gc ride, that was a huge step for Harlee! She does love Jesslyn, she just doesn't want her talking to her or touching her! LOL What can I say, that our Harlee! The kids loved playing and spending time with their grandparents and great grand parents! Later that day, Aunt Amie, Uncle Dustin and cousin Sawyer came to the lake! The kids always love seeing Amie. They were so excited to see that Sawyer could walk! They were very proud big cousins! They had so much fun with him in the pool, they all played so hard! Sawyer, like Amelia, had no fear in the water, he had so much fun!!

Sunday, Aunt Tada and Dustin came to the lake! Abram and Harlee love their Tada and Abram really likes Dustin a lot! They didn't play near as hard Sunday, because they were still so tired from Saturday and once again they had woke up at 5. Harlee was pretty moody most of the day (more so than normal! haha), Abram had managed to sprain his foot at some point Saturday, so his foot was red and swollen. He kept getting mad because I would make him rest it!

Monday, Harlee was still not the happiest camper at times, but Abram was very excited because his "best friend cousin" was coming. Mimi and Papa Dan came back to visit and Tarrah, Casey, Jake(best friend cousin) and cousin Sawyer came down!! The kids had a great 4th of July even though it rained! Harlee went back to Nana's house that night to get a good night's sleep before we left Tuesday morning. That was first time to spend the night somewhere without mommy or daddy!! She did great and she had a lot of fun with her Nana!

Bedtime Prayers

I had to post Abram's prayer from last night. Normally, I do the prayer or they like to just repeat after me. Last night, he said he was doing it by himself!

Abram's Prayer: Now I lay me down to sleep,
I play the Lord my soul to keep.
May Angels watch Abram with a sword
and wake him with a snore.

I couldn't help but to snicker a little. I told him that was great, but that I thought he may have got some words confused. He said that he didn't and that was what I said at night!! LOL I think tonight I will speak a little clearer! No matter the words, it is still precious!

Father's Day 2011

The kids are so blessed to have such a loving a caring father. Abram and Harlee love their daddy so much! They have their weekend ritual, where mommy sleeps in and they take a wagon ride/bicicyle ride to the park and play with daddy! They also have their game nights, where they play Go Fishin', Hungry Hippos, matching games and do their favorite dinosaur puzzle! I play sometimes, but I try and let that be their thing with daddy. I get to spend every day doing something special with them, so I think it's important for all of them to have something that is just their special thing!

This Father's day, we got Stephen clothes and the kids made cards and we made him a crown and a certificate for being the greatest dad! We let him choose the restaurant Saturday night, he chose Hog Heaven BBQ, and it was yummy! We went to the beach to end Father's Day!
After going to eat for Father's Day dinner
His cards and crown and certificate!
Sunday, he slept in; while I made breakfast! He loves french toast and strawberry cheesecake, so I did strawberries and cream cheese stuffed french toast. He ate until he was almost sick! Later that day we went to the beach! The water was actually clean looking for once, and we found a sand bar that went out forever. We walked down it and the kids sat on the sand bar and let the waves knock them over! They had so much fun, especially Abram, who is normally scared to walk into the water! We were so proud of him, he actually relaxed and let himself have so much fun without worrying!! Harlee of course is a dare devil and thinks that she is invincible, so we don't have to worry about her having fun, we have to worry about her life!! haha
Daddy digging Harlee and Abram each a whole to play in!
We all had a wonderful Father's day weekend, and the kids and I are so thankful for Stephen!!

New Post- A & H

The kids have said and did a lot of funny things and not so funny things this week, hopefully I have remembered them all!!

Monday night our light in our room started smoking when we turned it on, so we hurry and turned it off and the kids and I went outside until Stephen figured out what was going on. Abram of course got very nervous. Once, he realized everything was ok he calmed down and asked it the light was smoking just like Papa Billy!! (shame on you Papa Billy!) I think it is so funny how little minds work.

Wednesday, Harlee had a doctor's appointment at 7:45. The kids were way hyper as usual and were very talkative! I could not get them to eat a good breakfast before we left, so they of course were hungry by this time. Abram announced very loudly that he was hungry for breakfast. I told him he should have eaten more and he would have to wait a little. He then announced loudly that his stomach was hurting because he was starving for food. He is so dramatic anyways, so when he started begging for food I just went on with my business. Normally, I get embarrassed easily, but not this time. I just sat back and watched as Abram put this "play" on. Once he realized I was just going to ignore him, he hushed. I gave them some raisins and told him I was just waiting on him to be quite and that he could have had them a long time ago; his response,"oh." Who knows if they are actually learning lessons, but I will keep trying! Once we got into the room, the guys taking Harlee's info got up to leave and I said thank you. Abram stands up and says in an Arabic accent "Thank you come again." Not once, but twice!(thank you Stephen) The guy got so tickled he just walked out! The doctor comes in a few minutes later and Abram begins to fake sleep walk while she is talking! Then, they both start acting like dinosaurs. I finally got them to calm down and sit still, so I could actually hear the doctor talk! Harlee was doing really well until she looked into her ears. She went to look in her ear while I was holding her and Harlee turned around and tried to slap the ear thing (ostoscope?? I think) out of her hands. I was trying to hold Harlee's head down and keep her hands down, but I wasn't strong enough, and she tried to slap it away again, this time slapping the doctor!! I don't think she actually got to see in her ears, but she said looks good!! This time I was embarrassed!! Luckily, I'm sure many kids have swatted at doctors, just wish it wouldn't have been mine! Haha

Thursday, the kids and I went to the park and had a picnic and played for a while. The kids love picnics, because I always pack their favorite things. So, we had dinosaur pb&j, cherries, and cereal mixed with marshmallows! They love cereal and marshmallows and would eat them all day if I let them!!
Thursday night, Stephen had school and he didn't get to come home for lunch that day either, so Abram was getting nervous. At dinner, when I sat in Stephen's chair, Abram asked what I was doing. I told him that daddy was still at work and was going  through a drive-thu and then going to his history class. Abram looked up at me with a sad little face, and asked, "does daddy still live here?" Poor kid, his daddy missed lunch and supper and he was all upset! Later that night Harlee was playing in Abram's room and she got hurt. I went to check on her and I asked where she was hurt at. She looked at me as if I were the most dumb person ever and said, "In bubba's wroom." I didn't even try to explain myself! Harlee doesn't even have to say anything, her looks she gives say it all!! (she gets that from her daddy!) I also got told by Abram not even 5 minutes later that he could not help clean up toys, because his battery was low and his legs were not working too good!! The kids defeated me this night!

Friday, Stephen was off, so we went back to the park for another picnic and to play on the splash pad. The kids had a lot of fun and Abram made a friend right when he got there. It was that kid at the park that walks right up to you, grabs your hand and says do you want to be my friend and then immediately starts bossing you around! Abram looked at me, a little overwhelmed and says," he wants to be my friend, ok mommy." I said, "ok, have fun with that!" Harlee likes older kids and to follow her bubba around. She isn't to fond of kids her age. She likes to have fun all by herself usually or with mommy and daddy! The park also got another cute and tiny visitor, a raccoon! That little guy wasn't scared of anyone. He just wanted some food and then he was out of the way. He cam back three times for food out of the garbage can. He walked up right behind and beside people, jumped up on the can, got food and then left.
We ended Friday with movies and homemade white chocolate, chocolate chip cookies, and popcorn!

Saturday, we were suppose to go see Dora and Diego. We got to the mall a little early and there were already at least 200 people in line. I normally don't mind waiting for things, but I haven't been feeling too well and it hurt to walk or stand too long, plus Abram always backs out once we get there to actually meet a character. We saw them come out and before we even decided to leave, Abram said, " I don't want to see them!" Harlee looked at them and looked a little scared too, so we left. Once we got out to the car Harlee started crying, "I wanna see Doda!" I felt really bad, but it was too close to nap time and I knew she would not last 2 or 3 hrs in a line!
The kids favorite thing right now are mine and Stephen's old cell phones. We charged them up and they carry them around everywhere. Abram takes pictures of everything! He took pictures of clothes mannequins and the mall. He lost his phone at Surf Style and flipped out! Luckily, the cashier had it up front. I guess she thought we were starting our kids really young on phones! Harlee pretends to take pictures of herself with the phone and she is always talking to someone on it! Every time she would lose it, she would cry, "where my phone at?" She went to bed with it last night. I told her she better not be up late texting her boyfriend, she didn't know what I meant, but she still thought it was funny! I got a text Saturday night, and Abram said he got one too. I asked who it was from and he said Tada(aunt Talya) He said that it said, "I love you so much!" So sweet!! He also went to be with his phone!

Overall, it has been a great week despite the fact that the kids are fighting more and Harlee overuses the words no and uhuh. Here is to another week filled with love, fun and lots of laughs and the not so pleasant screams, crying, whining, and fighting!

Memorial Day

The kids spent most of their time outdoors this Memorial Day weekend. Unfortunately, I wasn't too much fun due to me being down with my back! Abram was sick too, so he took a lot of breaks to rest! Stephen and the kids took a few wagon rides and went to the park twice. We grilled out two nights, and had smores and ice cream and watched movies every night! Abram taught Harlee how to drive his Stinger! She isn't quite big enough! Today, we ended the holiday weekend with three hours at the beach! Three hours is a record for us with the kids. They are happy as long as they have the tent for a shade, its when they get too hot and too tired that the screams and whines start coming out!! All in all, we had a great Memorial Day weekend and we are so thankful for our own Airmen and all the other military members, today and everyday!!
