Memorial Day

The kids spent most of their time outdoors this Memorial Day weekend. Unfortunately, I wasn't too much fun due to me being down with my back! Abram was sick too, so he took a lot of breaks to rest! Stephen and the kids took a few wagon rides and went to the park twice. We grilled out two nights, and had smores and ice cream and watched movies every night! Abram taught Harlee how to drive his Stinger! She isn't quite big enough! Today, we ended the holiday weekend with three hours at the beach! Three hours is a record for us with the kids. They are happy as long as they have the tent for a shade, its when they get too hot and too tired that the screams and whines start coming out!! All in all, we had a great Memorial Day weekend and we are so thankful for our own Airmen and all the other military members, today and everyday!!

Catching Up with Abram and Harlee

I need to play catch up on some things that Abram and Harlee have been doing or saying!
Both kids have been having some listening issues and I feel like I have to talk all day. They have both been a little sick and so sensitive and emotional lately, so needless to say I feel a little more exhausted than usual, but I'm thankful for every minute of it!!

                                           Abram
Abram has been his usual funny self, but he has started getting into trouble a little more than he usually does. Since Abram has turned three over a year ago, he is pretty well behaved. He is very hyper usually, but I know how to bring him down and get him calm usually. His excitement and emotions are usually what end up getting him in trouble and here lately he has been acting like a two year old again instead of a four year old, but I think it is just a little stage he is going though.

Abram made my day today! I made up a funny joke for him and he smiled so big and said, "mommy, you crack me up like spongebob does!" I could have cried! lol. That was the biggest compliment he has ever given me! This kids LOVES Spongebob! (mainly because I do not, and he thinks its hilarious that I do not like him). He also, told me recently that he thought a girl on TV was pretty and that I should jump into the TV too, because I was pretty like her! It is so sweet to hear your sweet baby say that you are pretty!
The day mom was leaving from visiting she was drinking a bottled dt.mt.dew and Abram saw that it was almost gone. He asked if he could put it in the fridge for her, so that she could finish it later. It was cute, but kind of sad to me. It was like he thought if he kept her drink that it was guaranteeing he would see her again soon! I love the way a four year olds mind works. He loves to play pretend and has such a good imagination, which I think is so important! While I was watching Iron Chef last night, he went to Harlee's kitchen and started cooking. He came over to me and said, "here you go mam" "here is your food and water and your ticket." He asked, "do you think your husband will want something?:" "I know Stephen likes hamburgers a lot, but I'm all out!" I told him thank you and I asked him what his name was and he said, "SIng song wing wong Abram ping pong Abram!" Then he hurried and said, "no, just Abram Johnston!" I love playing like that with him. I'm 25 and still think make believing is fun!!

Abram has been doing a lot better about wanting to learn. I'm so thankful. He has great memory skills. He is awesome at memory games. I hate to get frustrated with a four year old for not wanting to even try to do his numbers and letters, but I know just how smart he is. We have tried everything imaginable to make learning fun. Recently, we purchased Leap Frog DVDs. He really has responded well to those! He is going to start preschool in the fall for a couple of days a week and I really hope that helps! He is really nervous about going to school, but he keeps telling me that his teacher will be so proud when he does good!! Lately, he has been talking more about school and talking more about letters and numbers without being made to!

                             Harlee
Lately, Ms. Harlee, has been a handful! She has always been stubborn, but it is getting horrible!! She knows no boundaries and doesn't care about any consequences! She keeps this mommy busy and my head spinning! lol. She is so passionate about everything and she  doesn't hold back to show how she is feeling, so that makes for a very loud day! She loves to scream! Sometimes she screams just because and other times it because God forbid, Abram may have touched her or looked her way!! Even though she can be the meanest little thing, she is still mommy's number one love bug! She gives the best love. It is like she always knows when you need to here "I love You" or when you need a hug. She melts my heart everyday when she randomly comes up to me numerous times a day and wraps her little arms around me and says, "I wus you mommy!"

Harlee has recently started spanking her babies! We rarely give the kids a spanking. I may pop their hands, but I usually do time outs or take something away. Harlee obviously thinks spanking is a hilarious thing, because she will get her babies and lay them in her lap and give them a spanking and smile so big and say, "watch dis mommy!" I've tried to get her to stop spanking them. I told her it wasn't nice, that they were just babies! She isn't buying it! lol.
Harlee thinks that Nana buys her everything she has! Everyday it is something. "did Nana buy dis?" "pretty, Nana got it!" The child thinks we do nothing for her! She always keeps us laughing! She is starting to carry on really long conversations! lol They start out making sense and then she gets carried away and we no longer understand her words. I play along with her and she loves that!  Last night she was going on and on and I would say, " you have got to be kidding me" and she would reply back with something else I didn't understand completely. At the end of our conversation, I asked, "you're not the police, are you?" and finally she says something I understand and she says, "yes, OK I am." I laughed so hard and she just stared at me trying to figure out what she did so funny!

I'll wrap this up with a couple of funny highlites from this week. My kids have been going around saying, "I'm a Martian." and they say it in an alien voice. Its so cute to hear! Also, Abram named one of Harlee's dolls Peepee. While on the phone with mom, he said, "when I come see you, do you want to see my Peepee?" LOL! Thankfully, mom knew that Peepee was a doll from a previous conversation!!

Helping Mama

The kids aren't big on helping clean or anything that doesn't seem the least bit fun, but I can always rely on them to help water the flowers! I make them help do a lot of things, but this is one of the few things they do not complain about. I may accidentally miss the flowers and accidentally spray them, so they like that! This particular afternoon, Stephen had just pulled up from work and I asked him to take their pictures helping me.

Playground conversation, Potty time and Mother's day weekend!

First off, I've changed blog sites because I wasn't happy with the other. The posts will still be the same idea, just in a different place!

Over the past week, the kids have have kept me entertained and made me a little crazy. Abram continues to grow more opinionated and demanding everyday and Harlee has decided she will say no to any and everything and refuse anything she chooses to.

One night during dinner Harlee stood up in her chair and I said very nicely, "Harlee, sit down please." Harlee looked at me and cocked her head and in the same tone I used she said, "no." She managed to sound just like me!! Stephen and I just turned our heads and looked at each other and were trying so hard not to laugh.

Wednesday at the park Abram made a little friend and they had the best playground conversations! First, the little boy tried to get Abram to go through the tunnel and when Abram said he didn't like that kind of stuff, the kids said, "dude, you just go through." "It's easy dude." Later, while sliding, Abram told the little boy to go in front of him and the kid said, "dude, no!" "I will go down before you!" Abram looked at me so confused! lol. The little boy also turned Abram's hat around backwards and said, "there you go dude, now you look like a DJ!" They had many more conversations! I love watching all the different personalities on the playground! While all the other boys were jumping down from things and climbing on everything, Abram used the steps are the slides. Each time he would slide he would ask me if it was clear for him to go! He may be a little overly cautious, but at least it will help keep him safe! Harlee had to pee three times the hour and thirty minutes we were there! I'm pretty sure she thought the toilet was really interesting and she liked her Dora potty seat that went on top! She spent most of her time at the park trying to convince me she had to pee again!! lol.

Over the Mother's day weekend the kid's Aunt Amie and cousin Sawyer came to visit! They had a great time with their little cousin. We all went to the beach and they had a lot of fun! Sawyer loved the beach! We went out for a mother's day dinner Saturday night. Harlee said she had to potty every 2 minutes. We went to the bathroom 4 times during dinner! You got to love newly potty trained kiddos!! She had horrible gas and kept saying very loudly she had to potty, so Stephen took her outside while I waited on the check! lol. The kids gave me a great mother's day! They gave me my present early since a little birdy told me all about it! I got a beautiful ring that I may have told Abram about very loudly. The best part of mother's day weekend was watching the kids laugh and play with their little cousin.
